Junior Research Data Management is a significant part of the scientific research process aimed at ensuring that research data are efficiently managed and curated in accordance with the best data management practices. High quality research data result into sound and trustworthy scientific output. Data discrepancies regardless of the type of research can adversely bias the outcome of the research. Therefore, meticulous attention is needed when handling research data. The purpose of the Junior Research Data Manager is to manage Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) research data and maximize access by AHRI scientists to high quality research data.The position is based in Mtubatuba.

The Junior Research Data Manager is required to manage data related to Clinical and Population research studies. He/She is responsible for the creation, updating, maintenance and validation of AHRI population research databases, for maintaining a high level of population level data quality and for the provision of computerized reports of these data. He/She is a key member of the Research Data Management Department team.
1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other information technology (IT) field
1.At least one year working experience in data extraction and analysis or research data management
2.At least one year’ experience in research data analysis and management
3.Experience in working with complex and large databases
4.Exposure to data extraction, transformation and loading and business analytics
5.Experience in working with scientists, such as clinicians and epidemiologists, in formulating data requirements and preparing data for statistical analysis
6.Experience in successfully mentoring junior staff to fulfill data management functions such as data extraction, analysis and reporting.
