The Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) is a multidisciplinary, independent research institute based across two sites in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Our goal is to become a source of fundamental discoveries into the susceptibility, transmission and cure of HIV, TB and related diseases. We also seek ways to improve diagnosis, prevention and treatment.

The Occupational Health Nurse will be required to provide a Health Services at the AHRI Somkhele Clinic. S/he will work in conjunction with the AHRI DBN OHNP & the Occupational Medical Physician (OMP). The incumbent will report to the Head of Safety. This is a full time position from Mon-Friday.
1.Degree or Diploma in Nursing - Registered Professional Nurse with SANC
2.Diploma in Occupational Health (advantage)
3.Dispensing License & Computer Literacy
1.5 years’ post-registration experience in Primary/Community or OH Clinic
Knowledge and Abilities Required
1.Familiar with PHC & OH practices
2.Experience in handling and reporting of Occupational Injuries and Diseases.
3.Knowledge of OHSA & COIDA legislation
1. Ability to plan, co-ordinate and implement plans
3.Good work ethic
4.Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word, outlook
5.Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
1.Diploma/Certificate in Community Health or Primary Health Care
2.Employee Assistance Programme or Disability Management Experience Knowledge of Health Assessments and Medical Surveillance programmes
3.Trauma and First Aid training
4.Voluntary Counselling & Testing (VCT) training and experience
5.Training on mental health issues and handling thereof
