The incumbent will be responsible for conducting child developmental assessments, as well as maternal assessments on the Insika Yomama Trial. This involves the direct assessment of up to 530 children aged approximately 24 months using the Bayley Scales of Infant Development; as well as conducting an assessment battery with the child’s mother.
The incumbent will also be responsible for all administrative and practical activities related to these assessments, including but not limited to the scheduling of assessments, record keeping and reporting of adverse events.
This position is based at the AHRI Somkhele Research site in Mtubatuba, KwaZulu-Natal.
1.A degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent healthcare qualification
2.Current registration with HPCSA (Independent Practitioner)
3.Valid driver’s License and experience in driving for longer than 6 months
4.Computer Literacy (MS Office – Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
5.Able to converse in and conduct assessments in isiZulu
1.At least 3 years’ experience in conducting child assessments in pre-school years
2.Clinical research experience or familiarity with clinical research data collection will be an added advantage
3.Excellent electronic and paper filing skills and experience
4.Previous experience in the rural communities an advantage
5.Previous experience working with mothers and children, HIV services
6.Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification will be an added advantage
